Why we do what we do

Women often end up in prostitution due to poverty, hopelessness, coercion, or false promises, losing their identity and human dignity.

Current situation of women in prostitution

In Germany, the red light districts and the brothels surrounding them are predominantly populated with women from Eastern Europe.

Behind many of these women are men who monitor them, force them to work and demand money. Often members of their own family. The women usually eat and sleep where they work. Because of language barriers and alien surroundings, there is often no exchange with the world outside the milieu.

Women are “recruited” through false promises or fake love relationships, assisted by economic hardship, sexual violence in childhood, sexual exploitation in various forms, such as pornography or child prostitution the driving force often being their own family. Families sell daughters to human traffickers and earn money from the suffering of their children!

Due to financial hardship, the women have no health insurance, neither in Germany nor in their home country.

For many women, it is almost impossible to escape this situation on their own!

The “prostitute” does not exist. Every fate is different and every woman’s circumstances are different. It is therefore helpful to differentiate between types of prostitution. We mainly accompany women living in forced– or poverty-induced prostitution as a result of human trafficking.
